R ecognized for her charismatic stage presence and natural ability to connect with an audience, Minnesota born Soprano Taylor Ann Grand has reached people with her voice far and wide whether in her own Minneapolis community, beautiful churches in Copenhagen or on the streets of Florence, all while honing her craft through growth, healing and cross-cultural life experience.

Taylor's musical journey began with the violin during her elementary years in Waldorf education. Her musicality developed under the influence of Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophical understanding of music making as 'essential in experiencing what it is to be fully human'.

Motivated by a burning desire to come closer to her Danish roots, Taylor moved to Copenhagen in 2018 and received her Masters in Voice from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2020 under the direction of Eva Hess Thaysen and Thomas Darelius.

As a coloratura soprano, Taylor has appeared in major roles including Virginia Woolf in Mathias Vestergård's opera Titanic  (2019/2020), and as Fosforo in Stefano Landi's La Morte d'Orfeo  (2020) at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. During her master's studies she performed extensively in a few of Copenhagen's most beautiful churches with her own formed Baroque chamber ensemble.

Her freelance work in Copenhagen included appearing as the soprano soloist in two of Martin Åkerwall's written works-- Nordisk Requiem (2019) and Når Helligånden Åbner Døre (2021) including a premiere broadcast on Danish Radio P2 in May 2021.

Taylor held the soprano position at Islev Church in Rødovre, Denmark from March 2019 to November 2022 where she sang with the Islev vocal quartet and as a soloist weekly for all services and has soloed with members of the Danish Radio Symphony as part of the Islev Chamber Orchestra.

She has gained stage experience and role study/performance experience at leading programs worldwide including: Casentino Voice Masterclass in Stia, the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz, the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Maiori, and Spotlight on Opera in Austin Texas. Her favorite role appearance was Lucia in Benjamin Brittain's The Rape of Lucretia with Spotlight on Opera (2013).

Taylor’s freelance work  brought her to Pilsen in the Czech Republic in August 2023 where she appeared as a guest soloist singing the role of Dorilla in a recovered version of Monteverdi’s Lamento di Arianna with the International Course In Early Music, Czech.

While living in Florence for the year of 2023, Taylor experienced a reverence for singing for the public on the streets in the beautiful historic center, during which she felt the impact music has on humanity through witnessing it’s power to draw people together, while reminding us all of our inner light and oneness.

Taylor recently returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota in May 2024 and is now rooting herself back in the Twin Cities community as a freelance singer and instructor, honing her multifaceted experience and growth from her time abroad.

Growing up in Minnesota, Taylor appeared as a regular guest soloist for the Danish American Center 'Danebo' in Minneapolis, Minnesota as well as soloing for many Danish cultural events. Her involvement with the Danish Community in Minneapolis greatly supported and influenced her development as a young aspiring singer, for which she holds much gratitude.
